Advocating for Affordable Housing Since 1993

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seek to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes. Habitat for Humanity advocates for fair and just housing policies and also provides training and access to resources to help families improve their living conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, child, and other deserve a quality, durable place to live in dignity and safety.

All across America, individuals and families struggle to find affordable places to live. Habitat seeks to remedy this injustice by providing low-income people the opportunity to achieve their dreams of homeownership. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and serve people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County has an open-door policy; all who believe that everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live are welcome, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political view, or any other distinctions that too often divide us. Habitat welcomes volunteers, families, and supporters from all backgrounds and serves those in need of safe, quality housing. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and affiliated organizations such as ours do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designated to induce conversion.

Founded in Americus, Georgia, USA in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped build, renovate and repair more than 1 million homes for more than 5 million people around the world.
