How to Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County. We welcome individuals and groups from all over to work toward providing families of Hernando County with quality, affordable homeownership. Without volunteers, there would be no Habitat!
We provide many forms of volunteer opportunities for everyone who wishes to help us further our mission. We accept volunteers that are 14 years of age and older. As we are a 501(c)3 organization, we are an applicable organization for the Bright Futures Scholarship volunteer requirement.
All volunteers sign a waiver but ReStore and Construction volunteers must take a respective safety course. Event volunteers help at different points throughout the year, so a safety course isn’t required.
All volunteers 14–15 years of age must have adult supervision.
All volunteers under the age of 18 will have limited duties and are not able to be on the construction site if power tools are in use.
Types of Volunteers
Our ReStores are open from Tuesday through Saturday. The Brooksville ReStore is open from 9 AM–5 PM Tuesday through Friday and 9 AM–4 PM on Saturday, while the Spring Hill ReStore is open from 9 AM–4 PM Tuesday through Saturday.
The construction site is open from Monday through Friday from 7 AM–1 PM. Due to the nature of construction, the schedule is subject to change. An email will be sent out every weekend to give the schedule for the work week ahead.
If you would like to set up a day with a group to volunteers in either our ReStores or our Construction sites, we would be happy to set up a Build Day event with you! All you need to do in order to get started is to fill out our volunteer safety waiver and take the respective safety course! Then, have your representative contact our office and send in the waivers and safety course completion emails to carmela@habitathernando.org.
